The Mill of Kintail work crew were busy March 5th helping to fix and store the Christmas lights. Several strings had dead sections. This is no one's favourite job but it was surprising how much laughter there was. There's also that great feeling when the string FINALLY works. On hand to pitch in were David, Dwayne, John, Ray, Ritchie, and Grant. Sarah was in charge of extra bulbs and fuses and coffee and muffins. About half the strings have been fixed and stored for next season. The crew will tackle the other half next time.

The Naismith Men's Shed has an active work crew under the guidance of Grant Montag who are out at the Mill of Kintail doing needed tasks to help maintain and improve this valuable gem in Mississippi Mills.

Office move and remodel

We had our regular Mill of Kintail work party on January 22. The plan was to organize Christmas lights for next year. Priorities changed. An office was to be moved from the ground floor to upstairs. First, the upstairs room had to be cleared. In no time, the guys (David, Gord and Ray) had the new room emptied and the downstairs office moved. Photos include the downstairs office, the guys emptying the new office and the new office ready to use. Great work guys .

The work crew working to keep the raviges of old age (the question is: is this old age the stonewall that is being replaced or that of the work crew?) The wall was crumbling and needed shoring up. The crew pulled out the stones and reset them to make the Mill of kintail's Cloister (a favourite wedding venue) a safe and beautiful setting.

On July 17 2024, a bunch of shedders helped rebuild the top retaining wall at the cloister. The wall was looking unkempt, and more importantly, a potential safety concern. Dwayne, John P, Gerry, and Grant were helped by Sarah and Joe from the Mill. The wall is now solid and looks awesome. Next summer's task is to do the same for the lower wall.

An ongoing focus of the work crew has been the upkeep of this beautiful Cloister at the Mill of kintail. It is used as a popular wedding venue during the year.
